Good pilau rice should be fragrant, separate and flavourful enough to stand beside a curry without overpowering it. Zouk Pilau Rice Seasoning is designed to make that easier.
What you need
- Basmati rice
- Zouk Pilau Rice Seasoning
- Oil or ghee
- Water or stock
- Optional bay leaf or cinnamon stick
Method
- Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clearer, then drain.
- Warm a little oil or ghee in a pan.
- Add the pilau seasoning and toast gently for a short time to release the aroma.
- Add the rice and stir so the grains are lightly coated.
- Add your cooking liquid, cover and cook gently until the rice is tender.
- Rest briefly, then fluff with a fork.
How to avoid sticky pilau rice
Rinse the rice well, avoid excessive stirring once the liquid has been added and allow the rice to rest before fluffing.
