Beginner-friendly hands-on Indian cooking class at Zouk in Manchester

Indian Cooking Classes for Beginners: Do You Need Cooking Experience?

Can beginners join an Indian cooking class?

Yes. You do not need professional skills or advanced cooking experience to take part in a Zouk cooking class.

The classes are hands-on and guests have their own cooking station, but the chefs guide everyone through the dishes step by step. The aim is to help you understand the techniques well enough to recreate the food at home.

What might you learn?

Depending on the class, you may learn how to prepare marinades, balance spices, build curry sauces, cook rice, shape kebabs or work with regional Indian and Pakistani dishes.

Will I cook the food myself?

Yes. Zouk’s current class format is designed to be practical rather than demonstration-only. Guests prepare the dishes alongside the chefs.

What happens after cooking?

The dishes are served together as a banquet so everyone can sit down and enjoy what they have made. Guests receive an easy-to-follow recipe pack to continue cooking at home.

How long is a class?

Current classes run from 10am until approximately 1.30pm.

Which beginner-friendly class should I choose?

British Favourites is a natural choice if you want to learn familiar dishes. Punjabi Masterclass is ideal if you enjoy Punjabi flavours, while Zouk Signature Dishes focuses on popular dishes from the Zouk kitchen.
